100MHZ LOW PHASE NOISE OVEN CONTROLLED CRYSTAL OSCILLATOR WITH LOW SUPPLY VOLTAGE AND MINIATURE PACKAGE

In this paper, a 100MHz low phase noise Oven Controlled Crystal Oscillators (OCXO) with the feature of lower input voltage and smaller package than mainstream products is reported, it suit for low supply voltage and miniature equipment application such as radar. Radar application VHF OCXO must own low phase noise performance, for example lower than 155dBc/Hz@lKHz when the carrier frequency is 100 megahertz. Most of the products with the same phase noise level in market have larger package and need higher supply voltage such as ( 36×27× 16)mm3 and 12V input voltage. In our design A high Q factor SC cut crystal resonator is utilized in the OCXO. By optimization of the circuit structure design and sifting through the low noise components, the phase noise minus to -163dBc/Hz@lKHz while the profile of the product is decrease to ( 20X20X 13)mm3 and the supply voltage is down to 5V.Thus, in some special application such as portable radar or satellite it is a available choice. Here the theoretical analysis to achieve the low phase noise in the restriction of the small package and low operation voltage is introduced and the test data is illustrated.
