An Ontological Engineering Approach for Emergency Logistics
This paper describes a preliminary attempt at using ontological engineering technique, especially a novel four-step ontological modeling approach, for emergency logistics knowledge representation in the collaborative work environment. Towards providing the capabilities of knowledge sharing and knowledge exchanging among heterogeneous application frameworks, an ontology-based emergency logistics model is proposed, which applies the previous ontological modeling approach into the development of emergency logistics ontology repository, and builds the emergency logistics domain ontologies using Web Ontology Language (OWL). Finally, an ontology communication technique of the multi-agent collaborative framework is referred to briefly, which is supported by the Foundation of Intelligent Physical Agent (F1PA), the standard FIPA Agent Communication Language (FIPA ACL) and the Web Ontology Language (OWL), and enables multiple agents to exchange emergency logistics knowledge ontology between collaborative work environmeints.
