Optimization of train black water treatment using ABR followed by AF process
Optimization of process conditions of train black water treatment using ABR followed by AF process was studied. Effects of hydraulic retention time (HRT), concentration of ammonia nitrogen and temperature on anaerobic treatment were investigated. Results showed that the optimum operating HRT of ABR process was 72h with the organic removal efficiency of 60%-70% compared with the operating HRT of 18h, 30h and 48h. Considering the promotion of ammonia nitrogen to the methanogenesis activity of the anaerobic granular sludge, the appropriate influent ammonia nitrogen concentration of ABR was from 500 mg/L to 1500 mg/L. The average removal efficiency of organic matter under mesophilic condition (34±1 °C) was approximately 63.4%, higher than that under normal temperature operation (28±1 ° C) of 48.6%.
