A Constellation Extension Based SLM Scheme for PAPR Reduction of OFDM Signals
Conventional Selected mapping (C-SLM) scheme is commonly employed to reduce peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems. However, some side information (SI) must be transmitted for the receiver to recover data correctly, and the SI and data information is separately transmitted. In this paper, we propose a constellation extension based SLM (CE-SLM) scheme to avoid transmitting the SI separately. The independence constraint for CE-SLM scheme is analyzed to guarantee an optimal performance for PAPR reduction. And then the scheme with simple implementation is proposed according to the independence constraint. Simulation results show that CE-SLM scheme has a good performance to reduce PAPR approaching the theoretical limit.
