Materials for the microencapsulated electrophoretic display
The electrophoretic display (EPD), based on the electrophoresis to switch pixels or segments on and off, has received a great deal of academic and commercial interests because of its interesting properties such as light-weight, good contrast ratio, wide viewing angles, flexible, and low power consumption. The key materials for EPD are the microcapsules and the electrophoretic particles inside. Here, systematic studies on the preparation of electrophoretic particles by the surface modification and microencapsulation by complex coacervation were carried out, EPD prototype devices based on the obtained electrophoretic particles and microcapsules were prepared and driven at a low voltage.
