Color Virtual Display Based on Planar Waveguide with Transmission Volume Holograms
Color virtual image display based on light-guided hologram is presented. It includes in-out coupling transmission volume hologram elements recorded on a single transparent planar waveguide. In the paper, the approach to overcome different diffraction for RGB (the primary colors) and achieve an optimal field of view (FOV) is given. The intensity uniformity of different waves and angles is taken into consideration, and therefore image quality is comparatively maintained over the screen. The simulation results reveal that a horizontal FOV of 15.95° and a vertical FOV of 12° can be achieved. There will be a tilt view angle 10.27°, but its acceptable in practical application.
