Stereoscopic 3D Display with Patterned Retarder
A 3D display which utilizes patterned quarter-wave retarder has been developed. The patterned retarder transforms the linear polarization of the 2D display into left-hand and right-hand circular polarizations. Such 3D display does not involve any switching elements, thus it is flickerless and no power consumption. The passive glasses are also more convenient, light weight and low cost. The patterned quarter-wave retarder can be applied to all current 2D displays and become 3D-capable displays.
