Hybrid Driving Scheme of a-Si TFT pixel circuit for AMOLEDs
In this paper, we present a hybrid driving scheme of a-Si pixel circuit for active-matrix organic lightemitting diode (AMOLED) displays. In this driving scheme, the data line is pre-charged to a specific voltage before current programming. By investigating the effect of the pre-charging voltage (Vref) on the settling time, we demonstrate that for a given rang of programming current, there is an optimal value of Vref that minimizes the overall settling time. Simulation results, based on a-Si TFT and OLED experimental data, show that the settling time can be shortened to an acceptable range. This work provides the designer with a means to realize the a-Si TFT based 3.2-inch QVGA (320×240) AMOLEDs.
