Green Light Generation Based on Periodically Poled MgO:LiNbO3 Waveguides

Compact, high-power, low-cost green lasers are highly demanded in various application fields such as laser display, bio-instrumentation and undersea communication. Periodically poled lithium niobate (PPLN) waveguide based green lasers have attracted much attention in the past years due to their high efficiency and excellent beam properties. In this paper, a brief history of the development of LiNbO3 waveguide as well as recent progresses of green light generation using MgO doped PPLN (MgO:PPLN) will be presented.
