Fast Response TN-LCDs Using Ultra Short Pitch LC Materials
The new method to fabricate fast TN-LCDs by making LC material pitch length shorter than twice of the cell width was found. 1,2,3 TN-LCDs could not be fabricated in this condition because of STN formation. In our method, by applying electric voltage to the STN state, TN-LCDs with short pitch length could be formed. The obtained TN-LCD could be stabilized by photo polymerization. By this method, fast TN-LCDs could be obtained without decrease of contrast ratio and large increase of driving voltage.
