Edge-lit LCD TV with a Novel Single Layer Brightness Enhancement and Light Diffusing Structures

摘要：

We describe an edge-lit LCD TV including a novel single layer brightness enhancement and light diffusing structures. The structures contain inclined side surfaces for brightness enhancement, and substructured tops and valleys for light diffusion. An edge-lit LCD TV with such structures exhibits much slower roll-off characteristics and much higher angular viewing regions comparing to that with conventional prism and diffuser two layer configurations.
