Optical Design of Dual-Channel Waveguide Holographic Display Configuration

A novel dual-channel waveguide holographic projection display, in which reflection and transmission waveguide holographic elements, one for the light of negative FOV extension and the other for positive FOV s extension. In this manner, the image-extended uniformity can be improved. The total FOV can be as high as 40°, with the maximal internal reflection angle (only 63°) of guided-wave light. Simultaneously, the cross-talk between different components is very low. The schematic of the structure and simulation results are given in this paper. Our results indicate that this novel dual-channel waveguide holography structure is suitable for using in the fields of holographic head mounted display and head up display.
