Free View Reconstruction of Three-Dimensional Integral Imaging Using Titled and Transformed Reconstruction Planes

Computational reconstruction is one of the most impor-tant ways to improve the image quality in Integral Im-aging (II). The reconstruction plane of conventional free view II is parallel to the pickup device. Thus only the center view reconstruction image can be observed, which does not accord with the actual multiple view observation. To overcome this problem, this paper pro-poses a method for threedimensional (3D) free view computational volumetric reconstruction of II on a tilted reconstruction plane by the transformation of the recon-struction plane. Specifically, the parallel reconstruction plane is transformed into new tilted and deformed plane along a certain angle and the matrix which is used in the transforming process can be obtained. By using the bi-linear interpolation method and the transforming matrix, the coordinate of the pixels on the deformed plane can be exactly calculated. After completing the calculation of all the pixels, we reconstruct the off-centered view reconstructed image along a certain angle. To show the usefulness of our proposed method, we conduct several experiments and analyze the results. The resolution of the in-focus pixel in the reconstructed 3D image can be highly improved.
