NoC Buffer Allocation Strategy based on Flow Distribution Table
As the most flexible sub-module inside of network router, buffer allows delicate allocation strategy but is often underplayed in realistic NoC design. Inappropriate buffer allocation results in excessive chip area and deteriorates network latency. This paper proposes a new approach to minimize buffer size with insignificant performance overhead, based on analysis of flow distribution at each router input port.
