Introduction Developing cost effective and environmentally friendly technologies for the remediation of toxic heavy metals wastewaters is a topic of global interest (Lin and Terry, 2003). This capability is useful in removing toxic heavy metals and trace elements from contaminated water in a process referred to as phyioremediation.
