Total Selenium Content and Main Speciation in Residues from Chinas Electrolytic Manganese Metal Industry
Introduction The electrolytic manganese metal (EMM) industry in China has grown rapidly in the past 10 years and today its output accounts for more than 98% of the world total. Every year the industry generates more than 10 million metric tones of residues, which is piled in landfills. Because of design and construction problems landfill dams occasionally collapsed. When this happened the residueswere flushed out, resulting in deaths of wildlife and other serious environmental problems.
