Expression, Purification and Characterization of Selenoprotein M Mutant
Introduction Selenium is an essential trace element that is incorporated into selenoproteins as the 2lst amino acid, selenocysteine (Sec). Selenoprotein M (SelM) was identified in mammals in 2002 as a protein of unknown function (Korotkov el a!., 2002), The NMR structure of the mouse SelM revealed a thioredoxin-like domain (Ferguson et al,, 2006), In this study, the expression and characterization of SelM mutant (Sec mutated to Cys,.named SelM*) will be reported.
