Selectivities for Selenium-catalyzed Reactions of Nitroaromatics with Carbon Monoxide
Introduction Nitroaromatics are very important industrial chemicals. Their reduction to amines is a crucial way to the downstream products. Further reaction of amines with carbonylation reagents (e.g. phosgene and urea) produces various useful fine chemicals and bioactive chemicals, including polyurenanes, drugs and pesitirides. In the course of our investigations on selenium (Se)-catalyzed reactions with carbon monoxide, we found that both reduction reactions and carbonylation reactions of nitroaromatics could occur in the Se/CO system. Herein, we report the selectivities for Se-catalyzed reactions of nitroaromatics with carbon monoxide in details.
