A Fast Green Noise Digital Halftoning Algorithm with Section-oriented Multiscale Error Diffusion
Printing systems with poor and unstable dot gain make blue noise halftoning inappropriate to be used to generate halftone outputs for them, and green noise halftoning is preferred in such a case. Recently, a green noise halftoning with multiscale error diffusion (FMEDg) is proposed for this scenario. Extensive analysis and simulation results show that it can provide better halftoning performance in terms of various measures. In this paper, a section-oriented MED algorithm is proposed to reduce the computational effort of FMEDg. Simulation results show that the proposed fast algorithm can reduce the computational effort significantly and produce halftones of quality close to FMEDg.
