A Battery Management System for Electric Vehicle Based on Zigbee and CAN
In this paper, the wireless sensor networks (WSN) are adopted for electric vehicle BMS (Battery Management System ) to observe the battery signals by ZigBee. The BMS is composed of LECU (Local Electrical Control Unit ) and BMU ( Battery Management Control Unit). This paper develops LECU as ZigBee end device, which is embedded two sensors (temperature sensor and voltage sensor for single cell). The LECU sends measured signals to the BMU, which as a coordinate performs data collection, analyzing and statistic. The BMU with high voltage sensor and haU current sensor, also controls the high voltage output of the battery packs and reports the state of the battery to the electric vehicle by CAN communication. The wireless BMS for electric vehicle is provided with lower power consumption, small volume, high expansion, stylization, etc. The experiments validate the effectiveness of the designed wireless BMS systems.
