Development of an Assistance System for the Botox Procedure of Patients with Strabismus
This paper proposes an assistance system for Botox procedure of patients with strabismus. Commercial system generates only sound signal when it detects electromyogram (EMG) signal of extra ocular muscles (EOMs). However, this audio based notification can suffer from ambient noise, which could reduce the accuracy. This problem can be minimized when we visualize the EMG signal during the procedure. To achieve this, we developed circuits for EMG acquisition, isolation, and data acquisition. Software for displaying and storing the acquired EMG signal was also developed. The result showed that the developed system can increase the accuracy by 50% and can reduce the operation time by 20%.
