Effect of ion-pair formation with organic amines on transdermal penetration of lornoxicam in vitro
Purpose: The aim of this work was to investigate the percutaneous absorption of lornoxicam (LOX) with organic amines as counter-ions ; Methods: Various organic amines, diethylamine (DEtA), triethylamine (TEtA), triethanolamine (TEA), and N-(2hydroxyethanol)-piperdine (NP), were investigated for promoting the passage of LOX through the rabbit skin in vitro. And ion pair formation between LOX and counter-ions was investigated in solution by IR and H-NMR spectroscopy ; Results: Ion pair formation had an obviously enhancing effect on LOX permeation ; Conclusion : These findings show that ion pair technique is an appropriate method for transdermal application of LOX.
