Study on causes of interfacial emulsification in solvent extraction of copper
In this work, interfacial cruds from solvent extraction of copper in Zijin Copper Mine were examined to assist in the establishment of potential causes of interfacial emulsification. During solvent extraction of copper, the source of solid particle and its influence on interfacial tension between organic phase and water phase were investigated at different pH by using XRD and interfacial tension instrument. It is indicated that solid particle was an important inducement forming the cruds in extraction process. The cause of cruds depends on the adsorption between particle and organic solvent. It reduces the interfacial tension and accelerates the formation and stabilization of emulsions.
