Bioleaching of whitehorse copper tailings with use of tank method
The scheme of biotechnology consisting of three stages is developed for processing Whitehorse Copper tailings. The first stage-tailings acidifying with sulphuric acid solution and extraction of the oxidized copper from solutions with use of the sorption on ion-exchange resin S - 930 ( Purolite , England). The second stage-bioleaching of the products after chemical processing by tank method with use of acidophilic associations WH - 1 and extraction of copper from productive solutions with use of method of cementation on iron scrap. As a result of the lead laboratory experiments at total time of process of 110 - 120 hours in solutions of two stages passes 92% -97% of copper. The third stage-extraction of gold and silver by thiosulfate leaching; as a result of 72% -77% these metals pass in solutions. After extraction of gold it is recommended to obtain magnetite from the products of thiosulfate leaching by magnetic separation.
