The treatment of gold-bearing refractory concentrates using biooxidation
Refractory ores with gold and silver locked up in the sulphides pose a major problem for mineral processing industry. With reference to this, IRGIREDMET JSC carries out test work on biohydrometallurgical treatment of refractory ores and concentrates. IRGIREDMET JSC carried out test work and pilot plant testing of a sample from a Russian deposit on bioleaching followed by CIL of the liberated product. To obtain 92% -93% gold recovery from the liberated product, the oxidation arsenopyrite shall be 97% -98% and pyrite oxidation shall be 90% -91%. The best parameters achieved were during 15 days of biooxidation. For commercial process the length of bioleaching is 4 - 6 days. This data was confirmed during the development and introduction of this process for mines and plants.
