A study of alkalophilic bacteria enhencing leaching of copper tailings
The main objective of this work was to evaluate a bioleaching process from the copper tailings using alkaline bacteria isolated from tailings pulp. Based on 16S rRNA gene sequences determination, it was determined that the bacterium comprised a novel unclassified strain, homology with EF551897. 1 was 80% , belongs to Thiobacillus species. The life characters of the bacteria were studied at 26t. The optimum condition was researched. The results showed that the pH of bacteria environment was 8-10, the culture time was 8 - 9 d. Bioleaching experiments were carried out in 250 mL Erlenmeyer flasks and a shaking table 150 r/min at 261 which showed that the alkaline bacteria can leach copper from copper tailings. It was established that pH =8. 9, t =26°C and 20% inoculation amount caused the highest recovery of copper in the bioleaching process, the extraction of copper reached up to 25% after 50 d.
