Laboratory investigation on the effect of biodesulphurization process on the sulphide ore self-heating
In this paper, biodesulphurization process was carried out for sulphide ores from Xinqiao mine, located in central east of China, by six groups of flask shaking and column leaching tests. The behavior of pH, Eh, Fe2 + concentration was monitored throughout the experiment. Pyritic sulphur removal of 42. 6% was obtained for flask shaking test, while 39.4% for the column leaching. The surface morphology of the leached residue was then analyzed by SME, and the result showed good agreement with the result of biodesulphurization ratio. Furthermore, it was concluded from the self-heating experiment that the critical temperature dropped from 332C€ to 228t after the biodesulphurization treatment, which indicates that removing sulphur from sulphide helps reduce its self-heating and spontaneous combustion potential.
