New biochemical technology of gold leaching from sulfide ores
Vasilkovskoye ( Kazakhstan) rebellious lean-gold ores and intermediate products of gold ores processing have been studied. Involvement of lean raw materials into production is one of the actual aims of modern gold extracting industry which will allow to considerably widen raw materials base and to increase gold production volume. Untraditional approach is necessary for the solution of this problem. Biohydrometallurgical processes of gold extraction with involvement of various microorganisms acquire increasingly large reputation. During a number of years goal seeking investigations in development of hysical-chemical bases of the new technology of biochemical processing of persistent antimony- and arsenic-containing gold-bearing raw materials with utilization of the unique strain of heterotrophic bacteria, patented under the name T -10 IMiO , are conducted at the institute. As the distinctive peculiarity of the isolated bacteria is their life activity in alkali-cyanide media with production of gold-dissolving metabolites, and also oxidation of toxic compounds of sulphur, antimony and arsenic. Utilization of bacteria in application to the lean antimony-arsenic-gold-containing raw materials allows to considerably decrease technological schematic of such raw materials processing, to lower the expenditure of cyanide two times and more and to increase gold extraction to 10% - 15%. Scaled-up laboratory version of the proposed technology has been tested, the gold removal into solutions having reached over 60% in optimal operation conditions.
