Ag+ biosorption and silver base nano-particle preparation through Bacillus megaterium growth
Biosorption and nano-particle preparation has caused wide concern as an environmental method. This paper aims at the silver base nano-particle prepared during Bacillus megaterium culture and growth. The biosorption properties of Ag+ and surface bioreduction reaction of Ag(NH3)2 + by Bacillus megaterium were evaluated. Experimental parameters, including biosorption time, temperature, initial biomass concentration, initial Ag + concentration and pH were optimized. The adsorption efficiency was influenced greatly by initial biomass concentration and initial Ag+ concentration. The best adsorption pH value was 6. The main mechanisms of silver biosorption by Bacillus megaterium included electrostatic adsorption and complexation. FTTR studies demonstrated that amino and carboxyl groups were confirmed to be the main active groups. The silver sol was well-distributed by means of TEM. The particles were almost globular and the average particle size was 14. 5 nm.
