Microorganisms of tailing dumps of Uzbekistan and their role in cyanides destruction
Study of microbial community in tailing dumps revealed development of diverse physiological groups. Heterotrophic bacteria with prevalence of Bacillus subtilis and B. cereus and thionic mixotrophes were dominating in zones of localization of ions of heavy metals. Microorganisms possessing different level of resistance to ions of heavy metals and cyanides in medium were isolated from tailing dumps and fresh tailing pulp. Based on preliminary screening 2 bacterial strains B. cereus 5 and B. subtilis 22 M, which expressed the highest destructive ability at initial concentration of cyanides 50 - 100 mg/L, were isolated.
