IdiotPencil: An Interactive System for Generating Pencil Drawings From 3D Polygonal Models

We present an interactive system, called IdiotPencil, that enable users to design pencil drawings directly from 3D polygonal models. Compared with the existing hand pencil drawing method, our system can speed up the user’s drawing and reduce their drawing skill requirements. The system allocates most of manual, yet tedious works to the computer while retaining aesthetic control for users. The system also provides fast and easy-to-use tools for hatching design. Users only need to specify hatching carriers according to their ideas. The hatching tools can perceive hatching regions and arrange hatching strokes automatically. The drawing pictures generated by IdiotPencil are compelling from viewpoint of handcrafted effect.
