Measuring Nitrogen and Phosphorus Contents of Sludge Composted with Different Treatments
The total nitrogen and phosphorus contents were determined by using the methods of semi-micro Kjeldahl and the sodium hydroxide fusion under different treatments of sludge composting. The results were as follows: (1) The nitrogen and phosphorus contents of the sludge single treatment increased slightly, nitrogen was only more 0.20%, phosphorus higher 0.19% at the end of composting, compared with the beginning of composting. (2) Adding fermentation accelerant in the sludge from 8% to 40%, the nitrogen and phosphorus contents increased from 1.05% to 5.02% and from 0.19% to 2.81% at the end of composting, compared with the beginning of composting, but were lower 36.99% to 6.60% and 4.29% to 0.98% respectively, compared with the sludge single treatment. (3) As increasing the amount of nutrient agent from 30 to 50%, the nitrogen and phosphorus contents were more 0.20% to 1.22% and 0.19% to 2.18% at the end of composting, compared with the beginning of composting. (4) Under 24% of the fermentation accelerant agent to the sludge, as the increased nutrient agent treatments from 8% to 32%, the nitrogen and phosphorus measured were more 0.20% to 1.42% and 0.19% to 2.35% at the end of composting, compared with the beginning of composting, but were lower 22.94% to 20.81%and 10.98% to 1.37% respectively, compared with the sludge single compost.
