Pyrolysis of Urban Sewage Sludge and Its Residue Application to Phenol Wastewater
Adsorbents for removal of phenol from wastewater were produced from sewage sludge pyrolysis by using an electrical furnace. The effect factors on sludge pyrolysis process were studied through single factor experiment and orthogonal experiment, the optimum process conditions of residue with the biggest iodine number was gained together with its elemental composition, pore structure, crystal phase and adsorption properties analyzed. The phenol wastewater was treated with the residue. The results showed that the average iodine number of residue was 892.8 mg/g when the sludge was pyrolyzed with ZnCl2 and H2SO4 (both 5 mol/L) at the volume ratio of 2/1, pyrolysis temperature 600℃, residence time 60 min, ratio of sludge and activation liquid 1/2.5, and washed. Meanwhile removal rate of phenol in wastewater reached 89.7% at 25℃. Moreover, adsorption characteristics of phenol on residue were in accordance with both Langmuir equation and Freundlich equation.
