Application of Self-Propagating Method to Extract Lead from Cathode Ray Tube Funnel Glass
This paper presents a novel process of lead extraction from waste cathode ray tube (CRT) funnel glass by self-propagating high-temperature reaction based method. It was found that the self-propagating based method could remove lead preferentially and the separation rate was related closely with the addition of self-propagating reactants (Mg + Fe2O3). Over 90 wt.% of lead could be effectively recovered from funnel glass in the self-propagating process. High extraction yield suggests that the network structure of funnel glass was broken down due to high energy generated during the self-propagating process. Moreover, environment-friendly refractory material was obtained simultaneously.
