Environmental Fuzzy Multi-Attribute Decision-Making in Integrated Wastewater Management
One of the most important challenges of modern human life is increscent production of urban wastewater in cities and metropolises. Hence, selection an appropriate method to collect, treat and reuse of wastewater is particularly important. Today, only economic attributes are considered to select the best technique for feasibility of implementing wastewater projects; Integrated WasteWater Management (IWWM) is a systematic procedure for sustainable development, allocation and supervision on application of wastewater in different fields. There are different methods to run sewage systems; the best method of which should be selected considering structural conditions of the ground and economic, social, political and cultural criteria of a city. It is clear that selecting a particular method to collect wastewater only by using a single criterion irrespective of other effective ones, leads the project to be failed. So, it is necessary to use Multi Attribute Decision-Making (MADM) methods in order to choose the best and most suitable method to implement wastewater systems. In this study, integrated wastewater management (IWWMR) is introduced as a new concept and wastewater management of the Niasar city, Iran, is investigated as a practical case study which is choose the most appropriate alternative among four options by considering nine economic, social and environmental attributes by using Ordered Weighted Averaging (OWA) and Compromise Programming (CP) methods. The results show that IWWM and MAMD methods are necessary to reach sustainable development in waste water management.
