Dynamic Fluid-Structure Coupling Research on Micro FlappingWing
The role of flexible membrane flapping wing on aerodynamic field has been investigated in a dynamic fluidstructure coupling computational framework. Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) solver is used to calculate the aerodynamic force. A newmark solution is used to solve the dynamic structural equations which takes into account of inertial force, aerodynamic force and mechanical acceleration together. An IPS method is used for data exchange between aerodynamic and structural grids. The results show that flexible membrane flapping wing can improve aerodynamic performance comparing with rigid wing, which indicate that the potential aerodynamic performance can be improved by optimal design of the wing structure.
