Evaluation of Fuel Energy Requirement of Tillage Implements for Loamy Soil
A field experimental was conducted at National Agriculture Research Centre, Islamabad, Pakistan, to evaluate the energy consumption by using different tillage implements. The tillage implements used in this study were sub-soiler, mouldboard plow, disc harrow and cultivator. The results reveal that subsoiler as compared to mouldboard plow, disc harrow and cultivator consumed more fuel. While energy consumed by sub-soiler was 8963.26 MJ.ha-1 whereas mouldboard plow 7222.46 MJ.ha-t, disc harrow 1682.71 MJ.ha-land cultivator 1525.89 MJ.ha-1. The investigations concludes that cultivator consumed less total fuel energy as compared to sub-soiler, mouldboard plow and disc harrow in loamy soil.
