Preparation of Flexible Pt Counter Electrode on In-dium-doped Tin Oxide Coated Polyethylene Naphthalate for Dye-sensitized Solar Cells
Flexible Pt counter electrode (CE) was prepared by a simple and fast electroless deposition on indiumdoped tin oxide coated polyethylene naphthalate (ITOPEN) plastic substrate for dye-sensitized solar cells (DSCs). The obtained Pt CE shows a high electrocatalytic activity for triiodide reduction and a low charge transfer resistance of 0.58 Ω·cm2. The assembled DSC exhibits an overall energy conversion efficiency of up to 4.53%, which is comparable to that of the DSC with sputtered Pt CE (4.74%). The present results indicate that the electroless deposition is an effective approach to prepare plastic Pt CEs as an alternative of the sputtering technology.
