Electrocryllisation of titanium in chloride melts

The electrochemical nucleation of titanium in chloride melts was investigated using cyclic voltammetry and chronoamperometry in the 700-800 ℃ temperature range. Chronoamperometric results showed that the deposition process involved instantaneous nucleation with diffusion-controlled growth of nuclei, which was confirmed by scanning electron microscopy. The influence of the overpotential, the concentration of titanium ion and temperature were also investigated.
