Ionic liquids as electrodeposition additives and corrosion inhibitors
Ionic liquids are molten salts with a melting point of 100 ℃ or below and solely consist of cations and anions. As a kind of novel green solvents, ionic liquids have been given broad and deep investigations, and enormous progresses in various fields were made during the recent 10 years. Despite the fact that the application studies of ionic liquids have been proposed in various fields, no processes have as yet been developed to an industrial scale. However, the main interests are still focused on their industrial applications. In this article, two perspective applications of ionic liquids in hydrometallurgical fields including additives for metals electrodeposition and inhibitors for metal anti-corrosion were introduced.
