Transport properties of cations and anion in tetrafluoroborate-based protic ionic liquids

The self-diffusion coefficient, diffusion radius, dissociation and association degree, and transport numbers of cations and anions in tetrafluoroboratebased ionic liquids were measured by observing 1H and 19F nuclei using the pulsed-field gradient spin-echo NMR technique at various temperatures. The temperature dependence of the self-diffusion coefficient obeyed the Vogel-Tamman-Fulcher (VTF) equation, and the VTF parameters were presented. The transport number of the cyclic amine-based cations in ILs was smaller than that of tetraffuoroborate anion. The self-diffusion coefficient was analyzed in terms of the Stokes-Einstein equation and the NernstEinstein equation. The ratios of the molar conductivity calculated from the ionic conductivity and the molar concentration to that calculated from the NMR pulsed-field gradient spin-echo technique
