Forcing Culture of Zhongyou No. 5 Nectarine by Enforced Dormancy
Forcing culture of Zhongyou No. 5 nectarine by enforced dormancy was studied in the healing greenhouse. The experiments conducted in this study include young tree training, accelerating flower differentiation, defoliation and dormancy releasing at low temperature, etc. Firstly, One-year-old seedlings without feathers were planted in seedling pots in greenhouse in early February. Pinching twice when shoots were 15-20 cm in length every lime was necessary to build the compact structure. Until late May, 15-20 limbs were formed in a tree. Secondly, spraying 750ppm PP333 twice from early June at 1-week interval could control tree growth and accelerate flower differentiation, and then stamens were formed in late August. Thirdly, hand defoliation and spraying 1% ZnSO4 in late August were the most effective methods in dormancy release and development of flower buds. The last, through 35-day at low temperature (5-7 V) in cold storage, tree dormancy was released. Trees breaking dormancy were planted in an automatic temperature-controlling greenhouse. After that, temperature Mas controlled at 18-20 °C until blossom and then 19-21C until post-blossom. Temperatures were controlled at 24-26 V/12-14 °C( day/night ) from post-blossom to fruit mature. It would take about 140 days from bud burst to fruit mature. The maturation of Zhongyou No. 5 nectarine was put forward two months than ordinary forcing culture.
