Evaluation of Variation in Seedling Botanical Quantitative Traits of Cucurbita Moschata

Many C. moschata local cultivars have produced and developed phenotypic diversity in China. To evaluate and utilize these plant resourses efficiently, the phenotypic variation as well as the abundance extent were investigated and analyzed among 135 accessions o/C. moschata local cultivars inbred-line, which screened from 910 local resources of C. moschata distributed in the mainland of China. The investigation on quantitative traits of the hypocotyl and cotyledon in 135 C. moschata local cultivars inbred-line seedling demonstrated that the botanical variations were abundant. The numerical magnitude of CI in the seedling showed that the hypocotyl height varied most. Significant positive correlation between cotyledon length and width, lower CV in cotyledon width / length congruously indicated that the cotyledon shape was the most stable character. Frequency distribution of all of five botanical quantitative traits accorded with normal distribution, presented continuous variation. The common resources of five botanical quantitative traits were given with the confidence interval range with 95%. Test population were divided into three described evaluation grade according to different botanical quantitative traits of seedling.
