The Effect of Alcohol Treatment on Soil Nematode and Microbial Biomass Carbon
The effect of alcohol treatment and film mulching on the control of nematode and the change of microbial biomass carbon was explored. The concentrations of alcohol were set at 0% (control) , 0.5%, 1%, 1.5%, 2%. 2.5%, 3%, respectively. For the total 7 treatments, each was repeated 3 times. 2L alcohol solution was evenly sprayed to each pot. The treatments were designed for 2 groups (each group is composed of 21 pots). One group was film mulched after the alcohol spraying, whereas the other one was experimented without film mulching. The investigation indicated that on the 15th day after the treatment, 2.5% alcohol solution was optimal for the reduction of soil nematode number, and 2% alcohol solution showed least effect on the change of microbial biomass carbon. Film mulching can enhance the effectiveness of alcohol treatment, as well as increase the amount of microbial biomass carbon.
