The Efficiency, Effectiveness and Economy of the Italian Judicial System: The Economic-business Perspective

The subject of this paper is the efficiency, effectiveness and economy of the Italian Judicial System. The necessity of accounting for the administrative actions, and economic, social and environmental effects produced by the courts in the territory and in the community in a complete, clear, truthful and transparent manner has grown notably in the last few years. The courts have perceived the necessity to experiment with new forms of management, above and beyond those obligatorily established by law. Such a need was certainly enforced by the knowledge that an efficient and effective Justice Service, as well as being fair, must consider itself a critical factor to the success for the economic-social development of the Country, coherently to what has happened in other departments of the Public Administration, where the process of change has had the search for efficiency, effectiveness and economy as its theme for some time now. The objective of the work is to investigate the relationships that exist between the application of these three base principle of Business Administration and the organization-managerial configuration of the courts, carrying out an exploration of the judicial administrations in Italy, from the economic-business point of view.
