Network Rumors Spread during the Public Crisis and the Governments Responses—In the Case of Wenchuan 5.12 Earthquake
Due to the sharp increase of Internet users numbers and frequent use of Internet information, the Internet has become a significant platform for exchanging information. And as the network media emerged, a variety of information of which realness is difficult to determine appeared one after another, and all kinds of rumors spread in the Internet world. Scientifically analyzing and controlling the network rumors to minimize the harm the network rumors bringing to peoples production and daily life at the utmost effort is of great significance in establishing a harmonious network environment. In this paper, we will take Wenchuan5.12earthquake for instance to investigate the network rumors appeared successively after the earthquake, and analysis the characteristics of the network rumors spreading, finally put forward the governments responding strategy.
