Study on the NGOs in Minority Areas of China

In recent years, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) have played an active role in various fields, including education, health care, environment protection, and poverty alleviation, particularly in culture inheritance and protection in minority areas. Therefore, the non-governmental organizations in minority areas have attracted increasing attention by more people, studying these organizations becomes a new theory hot spot. Based on the birth of NGOs in minority area, this article relies on the massive investigation and research reports, analyzes their registration, organizing activities, resources possession, the policy-making way and external contact. Also, it discusses the current universal existence weakness of NGOs in minority area— small scale, resources insufficiency, imperfect management structure, the social participation insufficiency. Finally, this article summarizes their social function, communication between civic and government, public welfare, public services, and contact with foreign countries. Overall, these NGOs in minority area are still in an early stage of development, not well adapted to the socioeconomic progress. It is necessary to give them adequate support.
