Towards Iran Vision 2025: Strategic Management Challenges
In spite of the limitations of new public management paradigm and strategic management framework, there is a tendency in using the framework in Irans public sector. In Iran, the strategic management thinking has been taught in the State Management Training Center and management schools for three decades in the light of new public management paradigm. This paradigm reduces and simplifies public issues at organizational and managerial levels by ignoring political, social and economic debates. A simple image of a public issue attracts the attentions of practitioners who want to see and act in a realistic and practical framework. This paper focuses on the challenges of strategic management framework as a way of implementing the development plans for reaching to Iran vision 2025. For example, it is argued that government is not a large organization and strategic management framework is not an appropriate tool for national level of analysis.
