An Analysis of the Network Organizations Based on the Transaction Cost Theory and the Countermeasures of Government*
Based on the paradigm of the transaction cost theory and compared with the traditional enterprise, this paper concludes that one of the best choices is to seek the outer-cooperation for the network organization when the transaction cost in the market is lower than the organization cost. Its cost is putting a lot of coordination and its boundary depends on the comparison between the inter transaction cost and the outer transaction cost. This is a way to introduce the market mechanism in order to decrease the inter transaction cost. But the values to build a network organization are not same for different enterprises. As for the bigger or super enterprises which face heavy inter transaction costs, their purpose to lead to build a network organization points to decrease their inter transaction cost, however, for the member enterprises in the network, their purpose to join is mainly to seek more economies of scale.
