Policy Alternatives for Releasing Urban Marginal Populaces Psychological Conflicts

Urban marginal populace in China consists of two categories: one is urban wage-earners from countryside but living in the city with the family for long, while the other is suburban farmers who have lost their allocated lands due to social transformation and special policy change. With historical and institutional reasons, they embody with strong marginal characteristic. Long-term marginal status hinders their merging into urban life, which causes their distinct psychological conflicts, and furthermore conflicts with the whole society. This kind of psychological conflicts has already become the main barrier to hold back the social stability and harmoniousness. Therefore, it is of great significance for government to provide reasonable and valid policy alternatives to release urban marginal populaces psychological conflicts in the context of harmonious society.
